Default Jim shockey's gold powder

I just bought a can of APP gold powder in ffg wanted fffg but they didn't have any.I had been shooting 777 in fffg at 90 grains.Where should I start with the gold, bullet is 250 sst out of a Ruger 77/50.How much different is ffg from fffg.Should I take this can back and find fffg gold.I have always used ffg powders whether it be 777 or pyrodex.New here so be gentle.

Most ascorbic acid based powders like this gold seem to be more consistent in fffg and also tend to make less fouling although there is little in either form. I personally do not like the large grains in the ffg. Black Mag'3 (which is my favorite)is similar powder but finally only released in fffg for same reason (at one time there was a Black Mag'2).

Anyone know of a chain-store source of this powder - like Bass Pro, Sportsman's Warehouse?

Silver,
Is that gold in stick or powder form? I saw the gold in sticks the other day.

How do you like that Ruger. Saw one last year at local gun shop.I liked the action and feel of gun - and the price was very reasonable(less than $300)as I recall.

It was a can of the powder .I 'm not a big fan of the pellets or sticks.I like loose powder.More consistent and adds a little more fun measureing out powder. My Ruger is the stainless all weather model.I really love it .The Ruger to me feels more like a rifle then a lot of other ML I have owned or handled.Although I have yet to hit the right combo of powder and bullets to see great groups .I have managed to take a 9 point and 2 does in the 3 years I have owned it.Going to try the APP gold and SST 250's today. With all the good I've heard about both looking for good results.

Ditto on the powder vs sticks. I've never used sticks, never will.I'll have to ck into this gold APP.I'm curious as to what the differance in the old Blue and White bottle of APP and this Gold stuff??

The 1st time I picked up the Ruger I had to do a double take as it does look and feel like a rifle vs smoke pole. When you get it tuned in let us know how it shoots.

If you have a Gander Mountain store near you, they probably have it. That's where I bought mine.
