I'm shooting a Winchester Apex with 2 50 gr triple 7 pelletsand 295 gr powerbelt bullets. Between 50 and 100 yards the bullet is dropping 6 to 7 inches. Is this normal? I'm shooting with iron sights so at 100 yrds I'm aiming best I can at center. This seems like a lot of drop to me and wondering if I just got bad results that day. This is my first time shooting blackpowder. Maybe I should up thepowder to 130 or 150 gr?

I suspect some of the drop is the open sights errors. Based on the published PowerBelt data on speed and bullet BC, if you are sighted in for 50 yards you should be down about 3" at 100 yards. If you sight in 1.6" high at 50 you will be on at 100. Give that a try and see if it works for you. Good luck.

If you zero it dead-on at 100 yards, it will shoot +- 3" high (or less) at 50, and be around 1" to 1.5" high at 75 yards.....
Apparent drop is about double after the bullet drops below the line of sight on its' way down, so after the bullet, zeroed at 100 yards, crosses the 100 yard mark, drop is much more dramatic!
You can flatten the trajectory somewhat by increasing the powder charge, but big imporvements produce big jumps in recoil too. No ML will ever be a .270 Win., so the best practice is to learn your trajectory well out to the distance you set as absolute maximum, and learn accurate range estimation!

I've seen it happen at the range and wondered what I was doing wrong myself. Your best bet it since your shooting open sights, adjust your sight picture. Going from a 6'oclock hold to a full cover can make all the difference in the world as long as you remember which is which.
As for raising the power of the powerbelts, some of those kind of rounds don't like it. I have heard both ways but never experienced any great accuracy with them with over 100 grains of powder. Especially shooting Triple Se7en. Of course I do not shoot pellets. Maybe a slight increase in pellet amount will not send them wild.
One thing to make sure you are doing since your shooting Triple Se7en powder is pull that plastic button on the bottom of the powerbelt before shooting. You will see a small plastic spike down there. Put a dab of bore butter, lard, oil, even spit on that spike and then replace the button. For some reason, and I suspect the extreme heat that is generated by Triple Se7en in comparison to the other powders, the powerbelts like to hold onto that button longer. This bore butter on the spike will help them shed the button faster and make the shoot a little flatter. At least it did in my case.
I shoot a 245 grain Aero Tip with 100 grains of loose Goex 2f and the accuracy in my Staghorn is outstanding...
