RE: Bullet selection question..
they should shoot real good actually. If you have any wads, try putting one between the base on the maxi hunter which I think has a flat base. The Great Plains as I remember have a hollow base so leave the wads off. A sub base might be nice, but if you do not have them, just shoot them.
I like to start heavy conicals out at 80 grains. It gives them a good push and plenty of down range thump. Then start pushing them a little and see if they hold true. I think you might be surprised at the accuracy from them..
Good luck and keep us posted..

Silver-I shoot 385 gr plains in my 1:48 TC.I use an MMP sub base and 85 gr of BM-3.I don't if I need the sub base or not,but they shoot out to my max range with open sights, real good so I'm not going to change.

RE: Bullet selection question..
I have used the 350 grain T/C Maxi Hunter with good results -lubed Wonder Wad and 100 grains of Pyrodes RS shot about 3" at 100 yards out of my Hawken. This was plenty good enough for "minute of deer" accuracy.
I tried the 385 Great Plains with and without a MMP sub base - out of my Black Diamonds - got OK accuracy, but nothing as good as the 410 Great Plains with the sub base.
