You will find that APP is:
[ul][*]Quite a bit cleaner shooting.[*]Velocites and consistancies are not that of 777, but are acceptible for hunting and targeting. You will need to start over with load development.[*]Very hydroscopic (soaks up moisture like a sponge).[/ul]
I am not fond of APP for the hydroscopic aspects and the accuracy was not that of 777 and BM'3, but some folks swear by it.

Yes, there is. APP is formulated to be loaded volume-for-volume the same as the black powder loads you used before. If you used 70 grains of GOEX FFg BP by volume measure, then use the same volume of FFg APP.

However, 777 is about 15% more powerful than an equal volume of black or APP, so when using 777 you need to reduce the charge by about 15%.

I have never been able to get good performace shooting patched balls with 777-the patches are ALWAYS blown! This happens regardless of how much the charge is reduced! On the other hand, one of my best .45 cal Maxiball loads is 90 grains of FFg 777.

Some swear at it...

All you can do it give it a try. In some rifles it shoots very well. I personally have never seen a problem with it when on the target range. I never tried it in the woods hunting. I am kind of surprised that if it is as moisture sensitive as many people who have used it claim (an I am not doubting them) by the Jim Shockey's of the hunting world.

The last two days I have been shooting Pinnacle which I think is very similar to APP. I even on purpose shot it on a wet rainy day, and never had a problem with it.. That's not to say it would not develop one hunting.l
