Default How many of you still borebutter?

How many of you all still only use borebutter in your T/C sidelocks? Do you ever use oil? I never had wonderful luck with accuracy with these but worked great. But I have decided to take mine out hunting only this year. Only take my sidelock.

I clean em out with hot water but use oil down them. Alot of guys say no way.

I used to be a bore butter person but after some real bad experiences using it, I switched methods real fast. I now use bore butter as a conical lube and nothing else. I am testing one barrel using only bore butter and Roundball's recommended method of barrel treatment with bore butter to see if it will mess up onme. So far the rifle is behaving perfect, no rust, but I really have not seen a benefit in accuracy or loading compared to my other rifles.. I now protect my barrels with a quality gun oil....

Oh Yeah I clean her up and use remington gun oil ,a good coat of it and thats how I store my Optima. When I use it I justrun a couple of dry patches through the barrel. Then I dry fire a couple of primers and foul the barrel. Then load her up

I have a few patches left that are treated with bore butter, but will probably go to a "spit patch" when they are used up.

Best way to rid the oil in the barrel is both sides of a wet alky patch -- then one or two dry patches.

The best way to rid the bore of Bore Butter is never use it in the first place...lol[:@]

I can feel poster Roundball's feet stomping this way..... I'm outa' here.[]

Doesn't matter to me in the least what anybodyuses for lube, or what they think of NL1000...it's perfect for me,my rifles,North Carolina's weather, the way the planet's are aligned , etc, etc, etc.......not a reason in the worldI should change it.

i gave up on bore butter.for me it just doesnt protect as good from rust and fouling as good as hoppes or rem oil.i had nasty burn marks on the barrel next to where the caps goes off and since i switched it doesnt happen anymore. i always like to run a couple dry patchs down the barrel before loading anyway with my caplock and also leave the rod with a clean dry patch down the barrel when snapping a cap or 2 to dry out the barrel.i would unload after each days hunt with an air tool and always use a fresh load for hunting everyday.ive seen guys go a couple days with the same load and kill game but ive also seen my share of hang fires. i also like to run the nipple pick through the nipple before i cap to make sure there is no fine debris and the hole is clear to the powder.

I don't understand your question edggy. What I am asking is some guys don't like to take out their butter from thier barrels. They believes it seasons the barrel. They use bore butter for about everything. I always used the borebutter for conicals, and then take home and clean it out in the sink and put some good oil in it. Some don't use your regular gun oil.
