I had to shoot that rifle today. Even though it was a slight drizzle outside and 69 degrees,I figured I would not melt. So I took the rifle out, loaded with 100 grains of Goex 3f and a Thompson Center 240 grain Mag Express XTP. On a clean barrel, you can see the #1 in green marker. #2& #3 both touched. This was from the 50 yard line with the open fiber optic sights off a bench rest. I was more then pleased with it. I was using a dead cover hold pattern with the sights because that is what they showed on the video so I thought perhaps that was the manner they sighted in the rifle with. That is where the front sight covers the bulls eye.

I then used a modified 6 o'clock hold for the next group of shots. Finally I used a true 6 o'clock hold and the rifle started laying them in the bull pretty true. For the first 10 shots out of the rifle I was more then pleased. I have not even started tuning the load yet, so I made no adjustment to the sight. Besides I want to get back to the 100 yard station and see what it will do from there with the open sights.



I then had the pleasure of cleaning the rifle. Actually, cleaning the rifle was not bad. It was trying to figure out how to take the bolt apart correctly so I did not mess things up. Being scared to make a mistake, we took the rifle into the main room and watched the video while I tore the bolt and rifle down.

Once the rifle was apart, it cleaned up real good and went back together just fine. I am sure after a few more times it will be second nature. But I wanted to make sure all would be well. The rifle is a real pleasure to shoot. I do not mind the straight stock at all. I seem to get behind the rifle real well. The safety behaved and did not try to go back on in the rear, and the side safety worked flawless. Even with 100 grains of powder there was little to no recoil and this has to have one of the best triggers I have ever shot. It breaks real clean and crips and if I had to pay some one to do it, they could not have set it better to me... I really like the rifle..

The load itself worked real good. 100 grains of Goex 3f has some nice snap to it. The 240 grain shot well but there are others I want to try in the rifle. The orange discs load nice and easy but I am not so sure about reusing them. I knocked the old primers out of them and when I went to reload them, the primers would almost fall out. We will see what happens with them on the next range session.

One thing about Knights is that they're generally good shooters. It seems that yours is also. For 50 yds with open sights, those are very good groups. I don't know which fiber optic set you got; red rear/green front or red front/green rear. If it's not to your liking Knight will swap them out free of charge. All it costs is postage. Since your going to use open sights with it, that may be something you want to think about.

I have the small green front sight. I really like that better then the red. I am leaving this alone. And I was more then glad with the way it shot. Although I had a little trouble with that bolt but got that all figured out finally....

Yah ive never been able to reuse the orange discs.

Ive had mine for 5 yrs and have always shot 150 grains of pyrodex then switched to triple 777. I shoot with a leuopold scope on mine, and tear it up at 200 yds.
It says in the manual not to shoot over 100 grns. but the "experts" that sold it too me and others ive talked to also shoot 150 grains. And like i said ive been shooting it now for 5 yrs with no problems.
Tear the bolt down when you clean it. the worst spot they corrode is where the disc sits.

I think all discs have 11/16 X 20 breach plug which is able to withstand the 20KPSI that 150gr loads might produce. I think the breech plug was the heel in most rifles. Hence my 9 year old wolverine has 5/8X18 breech plug and can only go to 120gr.

I could not live without my duct tape. I wear a set of red & green suspenders.. :D Actually I got so tired of looking for a good box to shoot into that I started taping over the holes. It re enforces the box excellent and makes for a nice color on a bright sunny day to look at a red dot on. Some red packing tape on top of the gray duct tape and you are in business.... Instant target!!
