Knight Disc Rifles

Well it looks like I went and bought another rifle tonight. It is a Knight Disk Rifle. It has the 24" barrel and the Camo stock. It is new in the box and I picked it up very reasonable on one of the auction sights. Since this is a disk rifle, I have a few questions about the small plastic disk themselves.

How many times can you reload one of those small disks? Can you get a nipple or new breech plug and shoot #11 or musket caps out of the rifle? Last, anyone have any good loads to try? I figure I will start out with about 100 grains of Goex 2f and some XTP's and then work out from there. I am open to any other ideas....

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me on the rifle and all the parts that go with it.

You have been a great help to me with valuable info, andnow maybe I can help you. The gun you have sounds like the exact gun that I have. First of all, which discs does the gun take (orange or red)? If it takes the orange ones, that is an older gun (like mine) and can be "upgraded" to the Extreme ignition (which I did)that uses the red discs and has a improved breech plug. The discs can be reloaded several times, but if you choose, there is a conversion to #11 ormusket caps

As for loads, I shoot 130 gr Pyrodex and 250 gr Barnes Expander and have had great luck. I can group 1" or under at 100 and 2" or under at 200. I have shot 100 gr Pyrodex with 250 gr Expanders with similar results. I chose the 130 gr load to hunt with.

I hope this gets you started, and I'm sure there are guys with more experience than me that can expound on my limited knowledge.

Knight Disc Model 604U .50 Caliber with 24" barrel. It said the rifle is discontinued but then all disk are now the elite model. I'm glad to hear the disk can be reloaded several times but I really like the #11 or musket ignition. I've personally never had a problem hunting with them so I will look into that option for sure. Thanks for the information. I am kind of excited about it. I will leave this one with open sights in case I want to hunt with an inline like that.....

My Knight Disc likes the 300gr Barnes Expanders with 100grs FFg...or the 250 Shockwaves with 90 grains Pyrodes...I usually reuse the discs 3-4 times...found that the Winchester 209s pop out of the disc easier than the CCIs (after shooting)..

I love the Disc rifles...its easy to pop the discs in or out...really think Knight screwed up when they discontinued...a buddy converted and says its hard to get the 209s into the disc...he finally bought a tool to help...

Actually they are now the Extreme Disc Model. The Disc Elite was also discontinued.

If its a regular disc. ~2003 model with the yellow discs, I suggest only one loading with 209's. I believe also, you can get No11 from the pre 2002 models. I never seen it for sale as most people are upgrading from No.11 not down. I wouldn't mind loading no.11 3 times. Not near as powerful as 209's as you know.

If its the extreme version, with red disc, definately only one loading.

Oh, also, I changed my elite over to the powerstem breech plug. Awesome performance with 130gr loose 777 and 250gr barnes expander and subbase. Kicking over 2000fps.

Well I have a place to start with the new rifle... I will wait and see what the instructions say reference the color of the disc they take. As for the projectiles you all have mentioned, well I have them here at the house so I will give them a try.

I sure thank all of you for your suggestions and help. I will look into that musket converson. I bought six tins of musket caps last year and have shot off only a few of them in the Black Diamond. I actually like the musket caps for the fire charge aspect.

If it's got open sights with a 2004 or 05 production date, then it's the new Disc Elite called the Extreme Disc like Wolfhound stated. I love the no tools takedown feature, the primer holders don't bother me ... but I don't like all Disc Rifles "straight-as-a-board" shouldering.

I need some stock drop & that's the reason why I'm still "Knight-less". Otherwise, they are top-of-the-line like the Omega.

BTW..... aren't you continuing to 1-28"ish repeat yourself owning a Staghorn, Black Diamond XR, & Wolverine already?

After tuning in the new one & probably finding it to be as -or more accurate than the XR,, why keep the Staghorn & Wolverine laying around? It may be time to sell the S & W duo. To me, keeping all of then is like owning four .308s. Sure you can shoot 100 grainers in one --- 180s in another.... etc.... but after a while you find out they are all basically the same.
