I have a knight inline muzzle loader and I bought a simmons aetec to put on it. Do you think this rifle scope will hold up on it? Or should I buy a blackpowder scope. I have been told by a few people that they use a rifle scope and it does fine. If not whick blackpowder scope should I get?
thanks

If that scope is made to take a stiff recoil I see no reason why it would not work. All you can do is try it. I will comment on .. does it have good eye relief? The reason I ask this is, I have been kissed by the scope more then once when I got too lax in my concentration and shooting form. Needless to say we are much more careful. I have an extended eye relief scope on the rifle also.
Give it a try. If it does not work, and you want recommendations on a scope, give the forum a dollar figure and I am sure they would come up with some real good choices. Then the decision is up to you.
There are some excellent low cost scopes out there that do an excellent job on muzzleloaders... Then there are those people that like to put the top of the line on them. I guess it is all a matter of preference and pocketbook...
Good luck with your rifle.

No difference at all asfar as recoil tolerance capabilitybetween a "rifle or an ML or shotgun" scope. A "rifle" scope shoud be engineered and designed to withstand the heaviest centerfire rounds, which are in many cases more recoil than a muzzleloader.
Big difference with rimfire and air rifle scopes.
Of course, if you are constantly loading up with the heaviest loads possible in your ML, you the ML and the scope are all going to take that much more of a beating.

Nice scopes, you will like it. Like said above a generous eye relief would be nice. I know many that use that scope and the 44 mags with no problems what so ever. I tried a whitetail expedition once and it was pretty nice for the money as well. I think that is the scope yours was based on.
Have fun,

I agree with cayugad totally, smacked my forehead and cut it pretty good a couple of time because the eye relief. Now i'm shooting a Ultimate Firearms and pushing 200grs of pryodex with a 300gr TC shockwave so I went with a Ziess. One thing on eye relief of scopes is make sure it stays the same thru the power settings. My Leupold 6-18 changes and the last time it hit me is when I went from 12x to 18x because the eye relief changed.

One of the benifits of the atec , they have more eye relife , than most others , leupole included . they are not just another cheap scope , the atec that is . They are a quality piece . Ive had one on my 300 win mag for some time and it has not budged or lost zero , is very clear , and an allaround quality scope . If you want junk get a tasco . Leupole and simmons atec are my only considerations in a scope now , as Ive been burned with the bsa and tasco junk .
