I have the omega in blued barrel w/syn stock.

I've literally tried dozens of bullets for this gun. I've tried powerbelts and for the life of me cannot see spending 21.00 for 15 bullets. Not going to happen. Plus I didn't like the way they shot, the groups they made or the reports from various sources.

I then tried some no excuse bullets in 460 grains with 80 to 90 grains of powder. I probably didn't try hard enough to get a tighter group but I was getting a 3" group at 50 yards. That wasn't acceptable to me so I tried the next one.

I had some huntermann boolets in 300 grain that I was getting something like 2" groups at 50 & 70 yards. I think if I had played a bit with the powder that I could have shrunk them down.

My next group was buffalo sabots in 225 grains. Wow!! I had a group with my cva buckhorn and omega that you could literally cover with a quarter! I have since ordered some buffalo sabots in 285 grains and look forward to using them.

My bullets of choice are from precision rifle in Canada. While the owner is one who toots his own horn, I've found that the Extreme Elite in 330 grains and the Spitzer in 215 grains are exceptional from the omega. The spitzer had a group that I could cover with my quarter at 100 yard and the Extreme had a group that was 1 1/2" at 100 yards.

This past december I use the Extreme Elite with 110 grains of BLACK MAG 3 powder to shoot a buck facing me at 70 yards. I hit him in the chest and the bullet did a number on him. Both lungs were liquified and the buck looked like he was doing a swing dance (without a partner) after the shot. He literally did several 360's and went down 10 yards or so from the point of impact. No need to track, but if I did then the blood on the ground would have been real easy to track simply because of the amount and the snow on the ground.

All in all I would say that the omega likes to spit out the heavier loads. 300+ grain bullets is where its at...at least for me and my omega.

Barnes 250gr Xpanders, they load a little tight but they are accurate out of my gun, producing one hole 3 shot groups at 50yds. Some will say they are too pricey but for pure killing power they are awesome. The SST's shot pretty good for me but I wouldnt shoot another deer with one. I think the SST's and SW's fall into the love'm or hate'm catagory, I'm part of the latter.

I have an Omega and just shot 230 grain Sure Shot sabots through it. It shot pretty good but not as good as with the 300 grain XTP Mag sabots. I also shot some 240 grain Shockwaves through it and got great accuracy. My vote goes to the 300 grain XTP's for value and overall accuracy. My gun seems to stabilize heavier bullets better. I would go with 300's if I could but am pleased with 240's--just less so.

I also use 250 gr. shockwaves and 120 gr. 777 what a great combo. I shot 3 deer with them this year one droped in his tracks the other 2 only went less then 40 yards. the trick I found to be is take your time with the gun. I tried 4 shot groups starting with 150 gr. 777, then I went to 140 gr. 777 and so on down the line at 10 gr incraments to 100 gr. then I evaluated the results and went with what gave me the best groups. I am shooting 1 in high at 100 yards, the same spot at 50 yards, and dead bull at 25. the groups are about 1-1 1/2 inches. I tried many different bullet and powder combos. before I came up with this. Good Luck
