Just to give a follow up on my posts form last week. Ishot my new encore barrel this week. I started with about 10 round balls & 60 grains of pyrodex select. This shot amazingly well, Then I shot ten TC maxi's 320 grain, Not as accurate with 100 grains. My father was shooting 348AT powerbelts with a scope (left his scope on just to see how the gun would perform) and wasjust hammering them. So I started shooting the 348AT's with 120 grains of pyrodex select and could not believe how they shot. (We are going elk hunting in Colorado so we can't use scope's or sabot's.) When it was all said and done I shot 10 out of11 shots in a5 inch dot at 85 paces with iron sights. I have always shot scopes and could not believe how well I shot.
Then we placed balloons at 140 yards just for fun & I was hitting them2-3 times out of five shots& the misses were just off to the right. I gave the rear sight a couple of clicks dotted the last shot dead center. I could not believe how accurate the encore is. Theencore issighted in dead onat 100 yards with 348AT's & 120 grains of pyrodex select. My fathers encore shot thesameload even better.(probably just the shooter) My Renegade Shot 90 grains & 370 grainTC maxi-ballsvery well also.Hopefully I will see that big bull in a couple of months. Thanks for all those who answered my posts last week.

Sounds like a nice load and good shooting with iron sights. Good luck with your Elk hunt.
Just a tip to all Encore shooters. Try an oversize hinge pin for the action. Just go up to the next larger size and see if your groups shrink. Mine were reduced by almost an inch at 100 yards. A lot of times I think after market doo-hickeys are gimmicks but these pins really do work. Helped my ML barrel and my slug barrel groups went from 5 inches to 2-1/2 inches at 100 yards.

That's a great update. It sounds like you have a good load going. Now if only the elk will cooperate..
