T7 to 209 Buckhorn
I am shooting 2 50gr pellets of triple 7,how many grs.by volume would the 209 take to be equal.I'm zeroed in with T7 and thinking of switching to 209 just like to get close, then fine tune later

Use 85 grains Blackhorn 209.
Each of your 50gr 777 pellets contains 43gr of 777. It was dumbed-down years ago to meet the same strength of 50gr Pyrodex pellets. Was done that way for both safety reasons and convenience for shooters to mirror very similar target holes using these two differing constructed pellets.

Even then if he is trying to replicate the pellets - it still could very depend on the weight of the projectile he is shooting - since BH is "progressive burning"
It is pretty much a grain for grain sub until the projectile weight reaches the 260 gr. area.

I never seen the factory process. I'm just a-guessin'. Pyrodex probably needs a third step, that adds blackpowder on one end of the pellet.

Most of the reviews im seeing and my own measurement years ago were in the 31gr to 35gr range (actual weight) for a T7 pellet. Ive seen people claim as high as 37gr. I have not weighed one in many years.
85gr by volume of Triple7 FFFG should be reasonably close to 2 pellets. 85gr by volume of BH209 will be fairly close too but will give a few more fps with a heavier bullet such as a 300gr.

When I switched to BH a couple years back I went through the same thing sorta. My TC barrel really likes it hot for some reason. Under 90gr BH the damn thing shoots a shotgun pattern but 90 and over she tightens up to under an inch with several bullet types and weights. When I was shooting T7 loose (never got into the pellet craze), when shooting 260+ saboted bullets, my average powder load was 110gr T7 and with 300+ grain Connies average load was 100gr T7. With BH I am getting the same speeds with 5-10 grains (by volume) less. Now that I am shooting lighter bullet weights (dropped down to 220gr bullets) I have found that barrel to be even sportier with a bit heavier charge of 115gr BH. And all without rattling my teeth!
