Default I got a nice 9 pointer tonight....

Well team, I got a nice buck at 5:10pm tonite with my Thompson Center Omega .50. It has 9 points plus a little nub, but I don't think it's long enough to count as a point. I don't know how to score it though. It was about a 50yrd shot with a 250gr hollow point. .45 cal sabot in front of two 777 50gr pellets. Either my scope was off or my bullet struck a small branch. Hit him hi under the spine and he went down hard. I then put one through the neck and it was all over with. I called him in with a grunt tube and he came right to me.

He looks huge. What did he field dress out to?
Got one more week to go. So far nothing first week. Damned full moon is killing us!

They didn't have a scale where I checked him in at. I'm guessing 175-200. But that's a guess. I would say 175 to keep it real. I killed a big 7 point one year and it weighed 195 and I believe was a little bigger than this one..

I will be going back out in a few days on a new tag, so hopefully I can get a doe to add to our points.

that's ok... as we all know...it's part of hunting. We still have some time here in Indiana.

I found almost a whole pack of 250gr ShockWaves I didn't know I had. the plain ones. I may use them to tag a doe or two next week since I have to re zero anyways. I removed my scope cause my Omega needed a good cleaning. Should be able to tag a doe no problem as long as the weather don't get crazy & force 'em to lay low.

Thanks Buckhunter,

In the mean time I'll work on my off hand shooting. Which can always use some practice.

Good luck to those who have tags left!!!
