I am not used to the score system, but how does a small 3x3 or a 6 pt buck end up scoring that high???

I am having a hard time seeing the third point on the left antler. In Virginia a point must be one inch to qualify as a point. What criteria are we working with?

On the left antler? I can see all 3 perfectly clear. I think its my camo shirt that helps blend it in.
