I was wondering if jelly is a good attractant for bears. I figured it would be because its sweet. I'v never hunted bears before, but last season i two encounters with them on my property and i really want to try and get on. Thanks.

They do like jelly, but they depend on there noses to find it first. Use something that smells to bring them in, like bacon grease...., rotton fish, ect...
Once they come in, they will love the jelly!!!

If you have bacon drippings that is solid take along with a small soup can and camp stove. Spoon some into the soup can and heat er up let smolder...this works really well at starting a location. Then spoon out the thick stuff and smear on trees, etc. If your talking about fryer grease I would pour some out on rotten logs or stumps, then hang the jug from a tree where the sunlight will actually thin it to provide a drip and finally poke a hole in a bottom corner.
Jam will work, as does jello mixed in with glazed donuts or sticky bread.
