Cabelas Backpack?
I just recieved my Cabelas 'Alaskan Guide' model external frame backpack. It's my 1st (good) backpack & looks like everything I could want in one; comfortable, roomy (5000 ci), & durable. Does anyone else have experience w/this pack/frame? I feel like I made a good choice for the $$? Know who makes it for Cabelas?
thanks,
VicW.

I have one of the older Cabels's frame packs and really love it. I have used it to pack some really heavy loads and it has held up well. The older models are made by Camp Trails for Cabela's. I don't know for sure if the Alaskan series is made by them, but from appearences I would guess that it is.

I got one for X-mas along with the frame. Haven't decided whether to keep it. It seems that I carry too much when elk hunting in CO. When I see the locals, they usually have a fanny pack to carry their essentials.
As for the quality, I think it would be hard to find a better hunting backpack. I'm not sure who makes it, but the tag says "Made in Vietnam". Figures.

They are made by Camptrials and have a few modifcations made to them. They are a good pack, not an elite backpack, but unless you are a guide using it every single day, you should get many years of good use out of it.
