Default Underwear Question

Long underwear question that is.

I am planning an Elk hunting trip to Colorado this November. In looking at my current list of gear I decided to buy some new long underwear.

I am looking at getting a few sets of Merino wool long underwear.

The question is should I get the 100% Merino wool variety or something along the lines of 80% Merino wool 15% Polyester 5% Lyrca???

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of the pros and cons of each???

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Steve

I wwear UnderArmour long sleeve pant and shirt with skull cap under my football gear. In fact nearly the entire team wears it. I think this stuff is the best, they have cold weather and warm weather gear available, its the best out there. Under wear pants and shirt runs about 100.00 and it's worth every penny.

I purchased MTP Hunt Series with Scent Eliminator Plus Polar Weight from Cabelas on sale. They are light weight and very very warm. Good luck.

I have not heard a hunter mention Capilene. It was designed for ice climbing years ago. It is hands down the best long underwear I have ever worn. It comes in 3 weights, to cover any situation.

I can not stand wool on my skin, so I have always used Polyproplene LJ's, socks and have been wearing Helly Hansen garmets for a number of years with no complaints. Warm, wicks moisture and light weight!

I go for 100% wool too. It breathes and keeps you warm even when wet. Filson has some great products although they can be expensive, but i think it's worth it.
