How big does a typical and non-typical elk have to be to make the record books. Or do they not have the same system with elk as they do for whitetail where 175 typ. and 195 non typ. make the book? I do not reguarly hunt elk but I was just wondering.

American elk is 360 typical and 385 non typical

Tule elk is 270

Roosevelts is 275

I believe if you check, the min for whitetail is 160 typical and 185 non typical. Not being rude, just an observation.

To make it into the all-time book the scores for whitetail are 170 typical and 195 non-typical.

A 400 ( lbs that is) will land em in my freezer.

The B&C alltime minimums are 375 typical and 385 non typical for the American Elk.
