Default Utah hunting

Hi everyone
I want to hunt deer and possibly elk in Utah next year (2005). I live in Arizona. It has become difficult to get drawn for Az. So I am trying other states.
Does anyone one have ideas for areas to put in for, for deer and elk. I hunted in Utah in the late 70's and early 80's. Richfield area. I know southern Utah fairly well.
Any pointers or ideas would be helpful.

Thanks .......... Kevin..............

GOINHTN sorry I don't have any info for you, but I do have a question. Sicne the USO victory in Arizona will it be more diffucilute for you a resident to draw a tag? The reason I ask is that I have talked to some people and they say it realy won't make much difference because it is almost inpossable to draw a Elk tag anyway. One guy made it sound like a once in a lifetime event to get lucky and draw. I feel for you and hope you find successs out of state.

Southern Utah still probably has better deer hunting than Northern. If you know the Richfield then you're off to good start. Down by Zions is pretty good. Did you have any other areas in mind that you know down there? If I knew what areas you know I might be able to steer you in the right direction

What type of elk hunting are you looking for? In the Richfield area they have either general spike only hunts or limited entry hunts. The limited entry hunts are still tough to get. Usually take 10-12 points to draw on points. Of course in Utah only 50% of the tags are given out to those with the most points and the other 50% are on a lottery system so you could draw any year.

Well idaho
I think there are a few positives for 2005 hunters. First you have to actually buy a hunting license before you can apply for a hunt and second there will be no online applications. I am hoping that this will give those of us with lots of bonus points a better chance at getting drawn. I believe they are increasing the amount of bonus points that you can acummulate as well. We shall see.
