Big game hunting is not easy. Gotta show the novice that hunting is not shopping, but still a remarkably fun adventure. It all depends how the hunt is organized and what game is abundant in the area. Personal experience inevitably factors in. Deer family--> Whitetail. Switch the .30-06 to a 12-ga. w/3-in. mag slugs, and turkey would be an ideal big-game critter for a newbie.

I would say deer would get my vote if you gotta doe tag. The reason is antelope aren't as spread out as deer and you need to actually do a little digging to find out where they are. Even if it's as simple as a call to your friend who tells you where to go. Deer are everywhere and next to zero preperation is necessary and you can go anywhere and shoot ya a doe within the first hour of your hunt.
