Knives all have there own function. For a general mountain knife(survival) I would recommend a full tang, I too carry a few knives, skinner, Gerber Gator, and a Spiderco clip knife.

I use and love my wood handled, Buck Vangaurd. It's just the right size, and it looks very handsome. If I were to do it again, though, I would buy the same knife with the rubber grip.

I just got the Vanguard last year after the seasons were over so I have not used it yet. I got the one with the rubber grip. They are a very good llooking knife.
