You're getting close to the peak of the rut. Go ahead and follow the bugles. Chances are when you find a bull you'll find cows. The bulls are gathering their harems as we speak.

Was out hiking last Sunday in the forest here, just out to do a bit of bugling and scouting for deer. I sat down in a open area and waited about 10 minues then i let a bugle rip. Within 3 minutes a cow came trotting into this area towards me, snooping around. Had a bit of fun with her in the next 30 minutes seeing how she would react to different calls. She seemed to react better to the bugle more than my cow call. Each time i would bugle she would come a few steps closer, eventually 20 yards away then i quit bugling. So i have to a agree, that if you find the bulls this time of the year the cows will be close by.
