It realley depends on your needs!!! For other than bow the lieca. I use my rangefinder mostly for bowhunting and have the bushnell pro scout which works perfect for that application. I do use it for rifle and ml, but not to specifically range game but rather reference points when setting up. The reason is smaller means harder to hold steady, second low light situations the black read is not the best nor is light transmission..so if I was wanting a RF to range on game I would buy the Leica.

I have heard consistantly the Leica is the best, thus it probably is. With that said, the number of hunters out there in the field with a range finder are by far in the minority. I have an older Bushnell (800 yard compact, model) that has always worked for me quite well. I use mine mostly for high power rifle elk hunting with ranging over 400 yards not really of concern. I use it when I "set up" for game so I know my trajectories in advance according to which way the game may come.

The main thing is to "have one". They do embolden you in terms or your shot selection.
Usually, there are only so many hunting dollars to go around, especially if you have any kids that you are also equipping. For example I would rather have a Bushnell AND a GPS than just a Leica range finder. It is all a trade off.

i have the leica and have used them now for 3 years.they have never failed at any distance to give a reading.one thing they have over the others is that the reading is in red.that is much better in low light conditions.
