Going in Sept.02 to Lincoln or Gila forest to hunt. Using two guns 300win mag. and 7mm ultra mag. what can I expect for weather and terrain. Have a 4x4 atv, can I expect a good percentive in these areas.

I did'nt think rifle season was in yet that early in september. I bowhunted the Gila nat. forest the most part of september.it's mostly on the warm and dry side. but it can get cold. we done our best when it was dry hunting on a tank (waterhole) .you shoud'nt have any problems finding elk because they're bugling pretty good in sep.

A3832,
The Gila is an exceptional elk are. As for the weather, wait for five minutes, it'll change. Usually Sept. is right at the end of the rainy season, temperatures will top out near eighty degrees. That said, I wouldn't bet on it. Nights can be down right cold, or hot. Good luck.
