Hornady Cartridge malfunction
#1

Anyone ever have a cartridge fall apart on them while in the heat of the moment. This occurred to my friend while on a Once-in-a-lifetime mountain goat hunt in Utah. I am interested in others experiences. It was a Hornady ELDX 143gr 6.5creedmoor. To see the malfunction part skip ahead to 6:25. To see the explanation of what happened skip ahead to 8:45.

I have been shooting Hornady 45-70 ammo for many years. Thay have always gone bang when they needed to.

Likewise. They make a great cartridge. We were surprised this happened during our hunt. We checked the rest of the bullets in the box and found 4 others that were not seated well. Oh well.. First time for us with higher-end factory ammo.

If you cantact Hornady and tell them what happened they will probably send you another box to replace it. It will not give your friend a do over but it is something.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^, this I would definitely contact Hornady, I am sure they want to know that they may have a bad batch of ammo and post a recall. Might prevent another hunter from similiar circumstances.

Although I felt their pain being in a remote area and dealing with a stuck projectile in the chamber ,the chopping up of the grill was epic ingenuity to use the steel as a ramrod in the video to clear the barrel of the obstruction ! That was a MacGyver moment ! Very happy the hunt was a success
