Default Wyoming Elk

What a great hunt I had today. Saw 12-14 bulls this morning and 6-7 cows. Heard about a dozen bugles. Saw the bull walk into a canyon with a cow. Waited and glassed to be sure they didn't come out. Stalked with in 250 yards and saw the cow stand up and start feeding. The bull was up feeding also. Made a 271 yard high shoulder shot with my 300WM. Dropped in his tracks.

Congrats Rob Nice bull Elk, a good start to kick off the Rut. I'd have a guess on weight, how did he measure out "Douglas score" that would be interesting.👍

He gross scored 310”. No idea on weight other than the hind quarters were probably 75-80 lbs each.

That's a beautiful bull Rob! Is this a leased property, public?

Looking like Wyoming was a great choice!

Jake,

This was a guided hunt on a private ranch. Still trying to find some leasing options on private land but they seem hard to come by at the moment.

I know the feeling . I've basically lost all of my Ohio properties. And I just can't afford to drop several grand a year just to go hunt right now and pay the local lease prices. Public land it is.

Glad you were able to get something lined up for this year.
