UUUGHHH !!!!! Work & Elk season
#1
I just hate work during the hunting season.I just got back from a weeks vacation on monday, seen no elk.Well on tuesday my brother in law calls up and asks iof I can get out of work,I ask why?He tells me 160 some head have moved through our hunting area.I tell him I can' t(my cowoker is elk hunting this week). He tells me he' s headin up on wensday and he will keep me posted.Well he calls me Wensday nite hoopin an holler' n him and 3buddies knock down a 5x5 bull and 3 cows out of a heard of 80-100 head, then he tells me as they are guting them 150-200 head more come down and pass right by them(several realy nice bulls in the bunch). Now I' m getting a little sick to my stomach and a little green with envey.I now start begging the boss to let me go,apperntly a man crying on his hands and knees have no affect on him.
Well I tell myself I will leave Friday night and hope to catch whats left up there and hopefuly shoot a elk.Well the phone rings at work and it' s my wife' s dad he is hunting the same area and he tells me he just shot 6x6 out of a heard of maybe 500 head,he tells me to get my a$$ up there they are moving out of the back county fast and steady.Well here it is Friday morning my nerves are shot from no sleep,I have great hopes, maybe with a little more begging I can get out of here by noon and in to camp by night fall. With any luck wish me some more.

This type of situation happens to me almost every year. Get quite a bit of time off the two weeks before season opens then boom, busy as hell just before and all through season, as soon as season is closed work slows down again. My conclusion; life is truely cruel!![:@][:@]

My elk season is only a week long, so there' s really no choice but to just take the whole thing off every year! Luckily, I' m self-employed so it' s not a problem. I' m sure there' s alot of vacation-time haggling going on in some work-places!
Good luck, BBJ!

BBJ,
Hang in there! Mental Toughness, man. Can' t change the situation so just make the best of it. Don' t dwell on the animals already taken! You only need one! Pump your friends for as much info as you can to improve your odds, take what time you have and use it as smart as you know how and enjoy it as much as you can! There' s a reason they call it hunting instead of shooting.
Good Luck,
EKM
