Wyoming mule deer
I just moved to cheyenne and will be considered non resident for the next 12 months if I'm lucky enough to buy a leftover tag is there any where in the east to hunt maybe near Laramie? I'm not looking for a monster, that would be nice, but a small mule deer will be big compared to the whitetail I have hunted in Texas. Very new to the area so all advice would be appreciated.

My first year as a non res here, I hunted left over tags. I found that the better hunting was north of Casper (based on tag fill rates) and did well. Stay with doe/fawn unless you are wealthy. If you are, I'm looking for work, too.
Hope to see you around.

hello Mpanther,
You might check out leftover deer tags for west of Laramie. the snowies deer tags were changed last year to unit only tags and there was alot of them around after the draw. encampment and saratoga are where the tags are for. Hope this helps.

sorry looked after posting and looks like 79 type 1 is the only one with spare tags. If I am not mistaken I believe they have leftovers in region J and T as well. Those tags shouldnt be to far from your home. have hunted most of the areas at one time or another so hollar if you get one bought and I can maybe point you into some deer hunting.
