I agree.
So it's practice, practice, practice.
Then it's fire discipline in the field.

Sounds to me like you get it.
Many never do.

For $400 something you can get the 700 adl. I think the 700 is a much better rifle then the savage in my opinion.

They have any other choices than the 243? For bear, you'd be much better off with the 308.

I agree I would get a little bigger then the 243. My cousin killed almost a 500 lb bear in wv about 10 years ago with a 6mm. But the muzzle was touching it between the eyes. The bear was in a rock cliff where the dogs bated it. A lot of the people in his bear hunting group uses lever factions in 30/30, 35 45/70 or Holstein smaller caliber. He manly uses a 480 ruger revoler now. He killed a 240lb bear with it this year.

The military uses 308 for long range sniper shooting. You are right, I didn't think about the bear.

I would carry my holstered S&W 357 pistol with me, just in case the bear decides to run at me. I do not think that would be the case though. 357 is too small for bear I know this but it's all I have for now.

They used to use 357 all the time, then they moved to 41,44 magnum now 454 ,480 I true standard they use. My cousin keeps.a rifle.in his truck but has his 480 on his hip.

That eases my mind some what, I think I would use a heavy solid bullet for a bear in my 357!
