You saw the title of the thread. Why did you bother to read it if you're so damn bored?

Didn't you just light someone up for being a BS artist? Well, please entertain us then!

The rifles you mentioned such as the Kimber Montana and M70 Winchester are excellent designs. They have control round feed and M70 three position wing safeties that are best.

The 7mm RM is an excellent hunting cartridge and so is the 300 WSM.

Encourage him to handle various rifles in a shop to see what he likes.

A soft recoil pad is a must for me with those powerful cartridges.

The Decelerator pads are best. Make sure its a soft thick recoil pad.

Here is a link to that M70. http://gundata.org/details/gun/253/r...timate-shadow/

The rubberized stock gets mentioned a lot. I have never handled one.

I have owned M70's, Kimbers etc. since the 1950's.

Yea I've heard the same about the recoil pad . But me personally I don't feel much when I shoot the 7mm and the buttstock is very thin and hard.

Very well.........

I have a 13 year old nephew who wants to have me get him started rifle shooting and then hunting. The boy has never shot anything bigger than a 22 and is quite small of build. He assures me he isn't afraid of recoil so starting with a large caliber won't be a problem. I'm working on fundamentals with him using my 416 Rigby.

Hey, I'm keeping with the theme here, bear with me.

If he's down to picking between 30'06 or .270, I'd go with the .270. Then when he's ready for his next & bigger "potato chip", he can step over the '06 and look at 7mm, .338, or 30-378.

Bullcamp...tell your nephew to save his $ now for that 458 Lott he'll be wanting in a few years.
