New to the west and elk hunting
Just looking for some general info and advice on hunting I live in Rifle co and plan to try to hunt north of there hoping to hunt the white river forest and do a DIY blm hunt any help would great

Another important strategy for learning about elk hunting will be meeting and learning from elk hunters where you live. There should be plenty of people to talk to in Rifle, Colorado, to learn more about elk hunting. If you are the right sort of person, some veteran elk hunter may even take you under his wing and invite you to join his elk camp to hunt.

Get all the information you can about the area, seasons, draw/over the counter availibilty of licenses from the DOW. Best if you can go with someone who knows the area. I really like the flattops wilderness.
