Have never hunted the desert for elk...any ideas??

I was just about to give up the tag i drew for high desert...it just doesnt look like there is anywhere for elk to be.

I have to laugh every time I see a post that intimates it has to be 10,000ft and heavy timber to be elk country!! I've never shot a elk in the timber or over about 4,500ft or so, if it was even that high....I'll tell ya that one of the bigest elk ever, came from the Hanford herd where there's nothin but sagebrush sand, rattlesnakes and a few dumb sundogs!!!! Elevation about 400ft!!!!!
So go ahead and give the tag away and maybe miss a hunt of a life time!!!! Me I'm goin to the desert!!!! oh wait I live in one LOL!!!!!
