4x4, I talked to a maker of antler chandeliers, and he cut a slot into the top of the antlers and put the wire into the slot and then filled the slot with the same material that is used to make the replica antlers that we are used to seeing of record book animals. They can make a set of fake antlers look very real, he just has a small slot to fill, and it is very difficult to see where the slot is once the project is finished. Might talk to a local taxidermist shop, even taxidermist can repair broken antlers so that you' d never no that they were broke.

They use a special dril bit that is flexible and drill out the marrow center then it is drilled from the end where the lamp is back to the first pass, if messed up they use a 2 part epoxy to fix the hole and then paint to match. All the lamp makers wont let people in their shops to see it or there would be too much compitition. Ive tried finding out where I could get one of bits , but no luck so far.
