Given that the camera is close to 40 yds away I'd agree that this makes him look like a smaller bear. Put him in front of the camera at 10 yards and you mgiht of guessed more I bet.
This bear is in the 300-400 lb range. A massive bear.
I'm 5'9" and that pile of birch in the background would be stacked over my head if I was standing in the pic beside it. That's tall summer grass his back is towering above.
Just too hard to guess in person, never mind form trail cam pics IMO.
