This bear does not appear to be mature. Judging by his underside, they say a mature bruin will have a large pot belly that looks low to the ground. Can' t tell if his ears look rounded and small for his head from this angle, another sign of a muture bear. If it was a regular color " black" bear I would not shoot it. Being a cinnamon phase??!!?!?.
I guess it would depend on late in the season it was, if I was on a guided hunt and had a lot of $$$$$ invested, if i lived where there was bear and could hunt them every year etc....
Oh hell just shoot the bear, bleach his skull, make a nice thick rug for the parlor.
Besides every bear wants to be a rug.

I agree, he' s young, but as others have said, his coat' s great, just wouldn' t be too big. I wouldn' t even call it a " pre-teen" though, it' s still an adolescent, barely out of cub-hood.

This may sound kind of funny but it fits. It looks too " cute" like a puppy looks compared to a dog. I would say he is fairly young. It doesn' t have the big head and the round body that an adult bear has.

Well, according to the local expert (a houndsman that has treed hundreds of bears and cats) that bear was a boar 3-4 years old, 5' 2" - 5' 4" and weighed about 200#' s. I watched him for a while, stalked him a took a few pics... I' ve watched 7 bears so far this spring, one I' m keeping my eye on.
Here' s a bigger one, if you can find him...
