How to attract and/or hunt black bear without bait or dogs in VA
#1
Any advice?
The area I am going to be in has a fair number of bear. Still, it seems like they are rare enough that I won't be able to just set up a stand and let one walk by.
I am planning on hunting both archery and rifle in those respective seasons. Thanks.

Do some predator calling here and there (rabbit In distress type stuff). Put plenty of miles on and get yourself some good bino's. What kind of terrain you hunting?

Get a predator call and the Carlton's video Call'n Bears: They Come To Eat. If your state allows e-callers I'd recommend using one. It helps if the call isn't in your mouth if an angry sow with cubs shows up, or just a sub par bear that you don't want to shoot.

I am not sure about down that way but up here they have bear scent that can help you as well. They also sometimes come out to a moose call believe it or not..
Good Luck to you..
