muley I was just talking theoretically. And it would have to be charging me if it were a grizzley, otherwise id be shooting an endangered species with LEO up my ass. Hmm face, then ive heard that you just want to play dead right if you get put on the ground?

Im saying pistol, just incase im bowhunting, I won't have a shotgun/rifle on me.

What caliber would be minimum? Im guess not 9mm but what about .45?

I was just talking in general. I don't believe the bear was charging the OP who hasn't been back to this thread since starting it. Obviously, not a hunter. Just someone scared of bears.

There's nothing more dangerous than a bear that's been dead for four years!

Well the poster hasn't posted anything since all your advise, wonder if the bear got him. I do agree with country1 and Colorado Lucky dog. But why do people dig up a 3 1/2 year old post?

What we have here is a noob bringing up an old thread that hasn't been back to the forum since that one post.

The bad part is, he brought up a thread that was made by a new poster who also hasn't been back since starting the thread.

Forum stupidity.

When I was in the Army on a training exercise in Alaska a brown bear charged our M1 Abrams tank while the rest of the crew and I were out taking a leak 50 yards or so away. That bear tore off the turret and ate all our MREs.

Well........ Isn't this a tall tale thread?
