In the states that have both mulies and whitetails, do you have to check your deer in with fish and game after taking one while hunting? If so, and you have a whitetail tag/permit and you shoot a "whitetail with mulie antlers" what is the consequence with Fish and Game, if any?

I dont know, the deer had whitetail head ,ears and tail, tagged it with the whitetail tag.As far as I was concerned it was a whitetail. They can have all types of weird antlers.Heck I seen whitetails with moose lookin antlers.

Beej99 we have muley tags and blacktail tags and half the state is blacktail area and half is muley .Where they intermingle what they are depends on what side of the line thier on .You don't have to check in with anyone so it doesn't create a problem . We also have Columbia whitetails but they are an endangered species and if you shoot one of them you have a problem. Not with the state but with the Feds .I don't know about the other states thats just here .

It's a wonder that there's never been a big B&C controversy about a whitetail with a 35" muley rack being killed. I wonder if their racks are a little inferior...
