Well said Colo Wolf! Theres not much you can really do. They are not a good tool for scouting or hunting. Only good for getting you up the hill quicker. Then start hunting or scouting.

You might see if your dealer could recommend a quieter muffler . Just remember you need to have a spark arrester .

If you are expecting to ride up on an elk, forget it. No way you could make it quiet enough. You are better off walking or sitting.

I wouldn't worry about it. When four wheelers were new in the woods the deer would stick around to see what that noise was and we'd see a pretty fair amount while cruising our timber. Now-a-days we hardly see any from them. The deer have gotten to know that a man, possibly with a big loud stick that made ol' Billy Buck fall down, is on that funny soundin' critter.

As for spooking them and running away hurting them? They'll only run out of sight then stop and look back. If it's not pursuing them, they'll go right back along their merry way.

4 wheelers definitely have their purposes but nothing beats the old feet.

you can buy these on kind of pipes called silence pipes, but i dont think that deer are really bothered by it because just the other night i was out shining and i got about 12 yards away from a deer and didnt scare it away.
