Top Three Big Game Calibers?
I well be going to alaska for a caribou and moose hunt with two of my buddies, we are all going to buy newguns and we all want different calibers could someone tell me the top three big game calibers...Thanks

I would go 260 rem for the small bore but extremelyhigh performance type...300 mag for the meat and potatoes and 45-70 for sure for the "add a twist guy!!!

Ain't gonna stick my neck outand saywhich would be the BEST, but I did read what the three most popular chamberings are among Alaska residents..

These aren't the top three "big game" cartridges, for sure. But if you're going to hunt caribou and moose, I'd start at the .270 Win.
Then, I'd have someone in the party get a .30-'06.
Last, if you can find one, a .35 Whelen would be sooooo sweet!
Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a "magnum" to kill caribou or moose.
In fact, you can always go to the short action version of each of these...a .260 Rem or a 7mm-08 Rem, a .308 Win and a new .338 Federal or a .358 Win.
All of these will knock the **** out of a moose, and won't hurt your shoulder in the process.
Then, I'd have someone in the party get a .30-'06.
