Antelope are easier to kill than whitetails.

Wha???!

Given the same distance and gun/ammo combo . . . MAYBE Goats go down easier.

But whitetail walk right to you from a tree stand with bait on the ground and a field of clover/corn/whatever right next to you.
Goats, on the other hand, are constantly on the move and often times you can't get to them to even shoot. And if you do . . . it's 200 - 400 yards with a crosswind at an animal that has 8 power vision!

I say goats are harder for these reasons.

game4lunch, I was refering to how "weak hearted" they are. They seem to go down easy, even if the shot is marginal.

I humbily disagree. Lopes go down much easier with a well place shot than a whitetail. Both are creatures of habit and once a pattern has been found I've found that the lopes stick to that pattern and can be much more predictable.
The max distance I've ever had to take a lope was 324 paces and with my stride works out to probably somewhere around 300 yards give or take a few but have taken most between 70-150 yards.

Ammo is about the same cost. .243 or 25-06 would both be great.

Hard pressed to beat the 25-06 imo for a varmit to deer, darn near the perfect match for what your wanting plus the ability to up the bullet size for Mulies or bigger whitetail in the future if required.

Good Luck
