right but in general whitetails go by totals not sides....i think it depends on populations of deer in the area like here in idaho we have very few whitetail so if you say you got a 12 pointer you know its a whitetail and a 4x4 would be a mulie....but your right where montana has lots of both the more details you give the better off your gonna be

Naw, stubble I'm from America, aside from my adventure with Okanagan Outfitters a few years ago, I've never even been to Canada.

Actually, my dad is from Nebraska, and in Nebraska they judge the points from one antler. For example, if it's a regular 12 point with a 6x6 set, then they call the buck a 6 point. Of course, when it's a non-typical with uneven racks, then they say 13 point, or something like that.
