Default First Bear Hunt

Hey guys, Im going bear hunting for the first time, for black bear in upstate Pa. What do you guys recommend for the hunt, i have the options of a Remington 760 in either .270, or .308. Maybe you guys can help me out.

Thanks, WTH

Either rifle would be fine. IMO the .270 has less recoil, and if recoil is an issue for you, than get the .270, otherwise, the .308 is a bigger bullet, and it'll probably do more damage. Get whatever you're comfortable with.
If you have to.... eenee-meenee-minee-mo.

308 would be my first choice. Either will be fine.

I'd go with the .308

With bear, usually the heavier the bullet, the better. However, a .270 is more than capable of knocking down a bear. I use a 300 ultra mag, but we sometimes take very long shots at some big bruins in Oregon.
