2006 was a good year........took my first bull!!!
Pics to follow as still trying to crop and so forth. Not a lot of elk pics until the return to camp as we went back in a good ways and had to go light (gun, bullets, knife). Curse of being from Texas (and fat and getting old and lazy)!!!!
Would like to say that even though the shot was taken at close range (150 yards), the .338 RUM (225gr Accubond/97gr H1000) folded him like a cheap lawn chair. Quartering toward shot, pulverized the front left shoulder/heart/lungs and you could put your fist through the hole on the off side.....mighty impressive wound channel. When I touched off the trigger he looked likea balloon with all the air sucked out! Just thought I would laud the virtues of the Accubond for all who didn't appreciate my comments about how it handled 1 inch steel bar stock in earlier posts.
Now.......back to getting some pics loaded......and
EKM.....we also broke camp in a snow/sleet storm on Tuesday evening. Broke our own record in completing it in under 4 hours (we are disgusting in what we bring). Even looks like we made it home with all of our gear...........but if any of your Rocky Mt folks find a guy wandering around that answers to the name of "Cory", let me know as we haven't seen him since that night!!!! Just throw him a beer and he will eventually find his way south!!!
