Bad Experience!!!!!

I'm not going to get into all the details, unless someone makes me , but I will never take another weapon to Gander Mountain for gunsmithing. Gander Mountain was one of my favorite stores to shop at until just a few days ago. I'm 47 years old, and I received the worst customer service I've ever received from any place that I've done business with. I hope all of the Gander Mountains are not as bad as the one in Aurora,Colorado. It makes me sad to loose one of my favorite stores, but thank God for the new Bass Pro Shop they just put in!!!

it is amazing of how one bad emplyee can leave a bad taste in your mouth. I have had this problemwith Cabelas a few times. I have been to the Aurora store and have been very pleased with the service and the products. That Bass Pro shop is massive. I think you could spend all day and never see everything.

here is the story
I took my rem 700 300 ultra mag in to have a muzzle break put on it. They told me it would take about three weeks. Two and a half months later they told me to come and pick it up the next day. The next day they called and said they had ruined the barrel and it would be an inch shorter or they would have to send it off and it woud take another two to three months to get it back, and they could not promise me it would be here by elk season. I called and tried to talk to the asst manager to figure something else out. He talked to me like I was trying to get a free ride or something. He made me so mad the way he spoke to me on the phone. I went down to the store the next morning and made them refund my money and told them they could keep the gun. The next day the gunsmith calls me and tells me that the gun is fine and it really was never ruined, they had just sent him the wrong part. I'm suppose to pick the gun up next week. I really don't know if I'll ever trust the gun again. What really chaps my ass is the way the asst manager talked down to me and treated me like I had done something wrong when it was them that had ruined my gun. The gunsmith was always nice and has apologized numerous times. I never received a call from the store manager even though I know he knows what happened. You just can't keep someones property for a half a year, and if you ruin their property you should replace it. That gun only had about a box of shells shot through it and had killed my biggest bull and my first mule deer last year.

Maybe you should get this guys name and number ( home and store) and post it on here and a bunch of us can call him and talk down to him.
An eye for an eye.

Sounds like you have a legitimate gripe. I would make the store manager "aware" of your exact feelings. I would also want to put that gun thru it's paces before accepting it back (based upon their initial claim that they "ruined it"). If I could not achieve satisfaction from the store manager then I would call the next person in line (at the regional level or whatever). Customer service is what makes or breaks companies like them and hopefully someone in management is aware of that and will do the right thing. If not, I would try to cause as much trouble as possibe[:'(].

The manager from Gander Mountain just called me and is going to replace my gun with a new muzzle brake. He was as nice as he could be on the phone. I just wish that I would never have dealt with their asst. manager, none of the bad feelings would be there. The store manager came across as sincere.

Ive had that happen before when i took my first muzzleloader to a gunshop in walsenburg colorado. The nipple broke and i asked him to drill out the NIPPLE and then break it out.. Well 2 weeks later, i cant fix it. I pick it up... holy crap! He tried drilling out the WELDED IN breech plug! Never got any payment for his screw up.

I bought my son a shotgun a the same Gander Mtn (they had the same price as Wally World, imagine that) and the background check took forever. I was there for 2 hrs. The staff was great. They kept checking on me and everything. It wasn't their fauld, though. Haven't had to deal with management.
Has anyone tried the gun smiths at Sportsman's Warehouse in Aurora? I try to do most of my shopping there, just 'cause I like the store and staff a little more.
