Spring or Fall Blackbear hunt?

Spring or Fall Blackbear hunt?
Hi,
I'm trying to decide whether to go bear hunting in the spring or fall. I would love to get out now (season is month of may), but I heard from a few people that the black bears meat in the spring is pretty rank.
Can you help shed light on this?
Thanks,

RE: Spring or Fall Blackbear hunt?
Actually the best fur is in the spring as long as they haven't started rubbing. I prefer the fall; in the spring the bugs and ticks are TERRIBLE. We went one spring and had to duct tape our sleeves and pantlegs. Black flies were in your face so bad you ate them with your lunch. Ticks everywhere. Never again. In the fall a few mosquitos is all you have to deal with. My experience is Canada and N. MN.
