If you feel that the 2506 is not loud enough for you you might want to look at either the .257 Weatherby or a .270 Win Short Mag. They both fall into the lazer beam class IMHO.

6.5 x 284

Its what most of the 1000 yard benchresters are shooting these days. If there was a better cartridge for long range and wind drift they would be using it. Its deadly too!

Bad news is that its a custom build job only. No manufacturer offers it.It still considered a"wildcat" the cartridge has reached "legitamate" status yet. Thoughyou can purchase brass for it headstamped 6.5x284.

My father and myself trueda remington 700 actionordered a douglas airguage match barrel and walla we had a 1/2" long rangehunting rig. My dad used it on his New Zeland trip this summer and dropped a dandy Red Stag, Tar, & other things which I don't know thename of,with it. He swears that everythingshot dropped like they had been lightning struck.

If you don't want togo to the trouble,I would stick with a 25-06 or 264 win mag.

.243 is my choice for a rifle. I usually try go get them with my long bow or muzzleloader. Got drawn this year and am going to try with a decoy and my longbow. The nice thing about .243 is bullets are common and fairly inexpensive. It always seems when I go with my rifle I shoot way way too many bullets at the speedy goats, when I have my bow or mz I am more patient to get in close, I think I am a better rifle shot than I really am.

If I were to buy a rifle for antelope hunting only? I would buy a 25-06.
That's what I use for pronghorn...
