I am getting excited about my first moose hunt, in september. I have a 7mm rem mag. Any experienced moose hunter have a reccommended ammo to use. As of now i was going to start shooting with :Federal® Premium® Vital-Shok™ 7 mm Rem.® Mag 165...any suggestions or comments would be great help. Thanks all

Warrior,
Wll congrates on the moose hunt sounds like fun.I'm no moose expert but I would probaly go with a 160 noslers,or Trophy Bonded Bear claws. Not that I don't like the 165's I would just want a heavier construicted bullet for up close, and boatail desinge just don't do it for me.I've always been partial to Noslers so I guess I'm bias.
Good luck

I agree the 165 Seirra's wouldn't be my first choice for moose either. Whilemoose aren't usually considered warriors whens it comes to dropping them they do have extremely thick hides & large bone/muscle massto consider. If you want to stick with Federal Premiums I'd suggest starting with 1 of the following :160 gr Nosler Partitions, 160 Barnes TSX or 160 TBBC. Another you may try is 160 Nosler Accubond which worked in my 7mm rem mag last fall on both my moose & elk harvests.
If I had to suggest just one to start it would be a Nosler Partition. Why??? It is a proven game taker, premium bullet that provides both energy release(wound channel)plusstays intact enough to pentrate deep (bones and tough tissues)and most rifles seem to throw them reasonably well, IME.
Congrats, enjoy and best of luck on your swamp donkey hunt!!!

Warrior Joe: My favorite moose gun is the 7mm Reg Mag. and the best bullet I have found is the Barnes 175 gr "X". I maybe shouldn't say it as it will probably put the hex on me but it has never failed YET. It has only taken one shot and that is over a doz moose. I hand load and use 4831. I don't know if U can still find this bullet but if U can U will not regret it.
