If you had your choice of hunt?
If you had a free hunt coming what would you pick to hunt if the choice of animal was yours? The reason I'm asking this is, in the past we raffled off a wild boar hunt with an outfitter in SC. The plan we had was if the raffle brought in more money then the hunt was going to cost the extra money would cover a friend of the winners to go along with him/her. The hunt was $650 for 4 days of hunting. This was a fair chase hunt, no fences what so ever. The tickets were $1 each but only 600 were sold. We covered the $50 loss but was more disappointed that we did not get to send along a hunting partner. It's been 2 years now and I think we're going to give it another try.

Did you talk to the outfitters and ask them to drop prices...considering its "free" advertising and they are still gettin paid what its worth minus making off of that one hunt with the thought it might help bring folks to there place? Also what about getting out of staters involved? I know there are folks ichin for an excuse.....this could be there excuse! Just some thoughts. I would love a chance at a Javie!!!

The outfitter worked very well with us on this. The regular price was $200 per day, the hunter could take up to 2 hogs per day, one morning and one in the evening of each day. Out of 4 days he ended up with 3 boar and 1 sow. A friend and I had hunted with the same outfitter the year before and was very pleased with the outcome.

I would probablly want to hunt mule deer. I have never hunted them, but I have seen many while elk hunting. My uncle has an ENOURMOUS mulie mounted in his living room. I never saw a mulie that big, but I would be willing to bet, that if he got it scored it would be one of the top mule deer taken with a gun.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

Do you think we could raise around $50,000 for a Marco Polo hunt in Tajikistan? Well, that is what I would want anyways. If your wanting something smaller in price I would say a whitetail hunt in Saskatchewan or Alberta Canada. Still pricey, but what can I say, I got good taste.

African safari. If price and time are an issue, I'd take a wild boar or pronghorn hunt. I don't need anything extravagant, just something different. Throw in some fishing, too, and we have a great trip. How about sika and stripers in MD?

dalliwacker, That would be nice. I'd like to one day be able to go to Altai Mountains in Mongolia and hunt a Transcaspain Urial or an Asian Ibex. I don't see it happening but I guess it's okay to dream?
