WCBoyz:

We have some members with almost year around squirrel seasons. . The contest will run until the end of the year, and next January we will start the new years contest. Anyone can sign up anytime. We had allot of squirrels entered in this past contest, allot of participation. Hope to see another good year here. Invite your friends.

Same as before, Any DEAD (ALLEYYOOPER will personally inspect each squirrel to ensure that it has in fact ceased to be alive.... )Squirrel, by any legal methods. Post a picture of your squirrel, preferably with gun/bow for it to be counted. If you need to skin them before you can get a picture, just post the skinned ones. As more sign up, I'll add them to the teams!

Also If anyone has youth hunters that are not members of the site, but would like to be in the contest, just Pm me and we'll add them with you on your team. We've had this in the past a few times and have had some PMs asking about it. I'll probably have my step son out next fall as he'll be turning five, but it depends on how he does shooting all summer and if I feel he's ready.

Not here, squirrels were very scarce this year. I only killed nine so far and since I'm the only one eating them I like to take 12-16 per year. I'll probably get after them again after the late muzzle loader season is over next month.

Not to mention one of the landowners where I hunt passed away in Nov. so that place may not be available next year.

GTOHunter 12-22-2016 05:49 AM

Throw Me in....it's been slow but I may start to thin the Tree Rat's again! ;)

My quest for a second deer this season was a failure. I only saw two all week. But... it's opened my eyes to some great squirrel spots. Maybe the squirrels have grown wise to a human in a treestand posing no threat. I hope to get out at least twice in the two weeks before squirrel season ends.

LONGHUNTER1750 02-11-2017 10:32 AM

First Blood

Lets start it out with four for team 2, first blood for this rifle. Season ends in four days but opens back up in May.

Bocajnala 02-11-2017 11:42 PM

My season in Ohio doesn't come back in until September 1st. But I might be able to slip over to PA for an afternoon hunt one day before it closes Feb 28th.

Fox squirrel season went out Jan.31st here in VA. Gray squirrel/rabbit are in till Feb.28th. We do have a two week June season, not my favorite time to hunt tho...

Main squirrel season opens first saturday in Sept.

I went out Jan. 31st in a farm woods I haven't killed any in this season. It was super windy an I got hit in the top of the head with a tree limb from above. I bled like a stuck pig, so just went back to the truck an went to a clinic to get cleaned up. First time for everything!! At least I have a hard head!:rolleye0011:

I wish "Spring" squirrel season would make it's way to my state.

TN Lone Wolf 05-05-2017 10:44 AM

Tennessee's spring squirrel season opens next Saturday. It's not my favorite time to hunt, either, but it's nice to get back out again.

Bocajnala 05-05-2017 11:06 AM

Ya, Ohio starts in september. And PA doesn't start until October I believe.

Ten for team 2. The season started yesterday here in Missouri, went out saturday and got two before the rain rolled in, been a lot of that here lately. I went out this morning and got eight out of one old mulberry tree and was back home cleaning them by nine o'clock, what a way to start the season.

LONGHUNTER1750 06-08-2017 11:40 AM

Twelve more for team two. Two yesterday from the pecan grove and ten today from the magic Mulberry tree.

Bocajnala 06-09-2017 01:02 AM

I think LH will hit 100 this year, if he chooses to obviously. that'll be the first to hit 100 in my memory in the contest.
-Jake

LONGHUNTER1750 06-24-2017 12:09 PM

One more for team two.
Only seen this one this morning. Perfect weather, sure thought there would be more of them moving. Will try again tomorrow.

toytruck 06-25-2017 05:35 PM

Longhunter, how many can you kill per day legally? We in VA. are limited to six per day, total, (includes all species) 75 per season.

Ten a day here.

LONGHUNTER1750 06-26-2017 09:20 AM

Three more for team two this morning.

toytruck 06-27-2017 05:03 PM

Wow, you have alot more squirrels than I do around me anyway.

I just had the three I killed earlier this month (early season) for supper, yum, now I have to wait till first Saturday in Sept.

LONGHUNTER1750 07-07-2017 07:00 AM

We need an update.

SoloCamper 07-12-2017 06:53 PM

Eighteen squirrels out of one tree in just two hunts. That's some serious action. I can only imagine how much that tree must have been shaking at first light.

Watching limbs sway and leaves shake at dawn (even way out of range) is probably my favorite thing about early season squirrel hunting.

Do you have any trouble with warbles hunting in the summer?

The last four squirrels I posted also came from the mulberry tree, they would come in one or two at a time at first light. Pretty easy pickens but it sure was a lot of fun, I have shot a lot of squirrels out of that old tree over the years but never like this.

I have been hunting squirrels for about 45 years and have never seen a warble in one around here, but I dont do much hunting during July and August which is most likely the worst time for them.

LONGHUNTER1750 08-04-2017 01:03 PM

First blood with the .17 Mach2 and four more for team two.

WCBoyz 08-08-2017 07:45 AM

Can I join this contest? My season starts this weekend

Bocajnala 08-09-2017 03:15 AM

WCBoyz,

Got you added. Welcome to the forum. Go hunt some squirrel. And share a picture. Preferably with whatever you used to hunt them in the picture. If you need to skin them before getting a camera, you can post the skinned squirrels as well.

Good luck!

I hunt in Indiana I believe I read in the rules it starts on the 15th

TN Lone Wolf 08-10-2017 07:15 PM

Glad to see you're on my team. I doubt we'll be able to dethrone longhunter, but I think second place is easily feasible.
