Just ordered a talon tactical stock for my Winchester Short turkey 1300. Hope it gets here in time to have it redipped before season starts! Wanted to get her in prime shape, she's taken a bunch of longbeards in her time. Also couldn't afford using the franchi again this year and snapping on a shell! It hasn't done it all duck season, but I would hate to throw a 700 dollar gun through the woods when it cost me another turkey! Lol

Well.......just got a email. My stock is on back order for 4-6 weeks! Looks like I might have to come up with another plan, this is going to cut it close!

Lets hope it comes early Ethan... Any way it goes you will still be killin turkeys :)

It's Jan.28 and it's 65 degrees here in Alabama. I'm getting the itch but I'm hoping that it doesn't stay like this during Feb. It got warm early last year and seemed to affect the birds.

Baldeagle, I shot a good deer yesterday morning running a doe. Skeeters out, and really warm! Lol!! Go figure! Maybe Arrow will be nice and post a pic for me! Hahaha!! This BAMA winter the last two years has been pretty much nonexistent!!

Hey Team,I'm in for another championship year! After a rough Deer season I'm ready to put Tom Turkey in my vest for a rest. Got huge flocks all over the place around here,saw 20 then 30 then nearly 50 in Lanesville IN. no lack of birds in Harrison County thats for sure. Glad to see you Beard Bandits flocking up on the site again. My old 835 Mossy is ready to go. I hope it's a little cooler for the afternoon hunts this year,last year was way to hot after 11:00 in the morning. My buddy and I got a new spot we found while Deer hunting,been seeing some draggers on this ridge,11 plus in the beard department,20 plus in the weight I'm sure. We are hoping if they are that big in winter spring ought to bump them up to 23 or more. looking forward to getting Turkey on the brain with all team members.Got my favorite mouth calls for 2.00 bucks at Rural King during their Turkey season clearance sale,bought 4 of them,they sell for 5.00 regular. Going to get a really good decoy this year and lots of tick spray and I'll be ready to hunt. A couple of pics to jog the memory. Later

Calm down EFH,keep your eye on the Bird or you may miss the Tom of a lifetime. I've got a youth hunter I call TurkeyGirl,she busted a nice Tom her first time out with me calling for her. She went out on her own last year and got it done,I was like a proud Dad when she brought one home.Here is this years Tom.

I'll be back again. Last year was the first year I've never killed a bird for myself. Called one up for a first timer on youth weekend which was awesome, but hopefully they'll stay hot for longer than a week this year. My birds just didn't do much for me last year. I think they got fired up in late February and early March last year and weren't very responsive during the season. I should get to hunt in Georgia again this year so I'm hoping to have a good season and contribute. I'm ready to do some hootin' and shootin' though for sure.

I'm going to wear out my Primos DVD's between now and March 15th. I'm with SS on the weather. I hope it stays cooler until the first of March.

You two are right! We had birds gobbling good in mid February last year!

I shot my first turkey of the season yesterday!!!......scared the crap out of the people in the frozen food section! Lol

I sure do hope it gets back cold pretty quick down here. Felt like I shoulda been hootin' from a ridgetop this morning when I left for work. I'll be heading up to do a little work this weekend to start getting ready. Oh, and I may get to take a trip up to Tennessee and hunt this year too. Wife's uncle has a lease up there so hopefully he'll invite me up. He better, since the only bird I called up last year was for his son on youth weekend!

I'm hoping to get up to Tennessee myself. I'll be starting the season off March 15 down at Oakmulgee.

EFH or SS....either of you guys have any experience on Cahaba River wma? Thinking about trying it out but hate to leave birds to find birds.

baldeagle, the only wma experience I have is at Choccolocco and I've only been there twice. When I went it was late season and we only heard a couple birds gobble once or twice way off. There are supposedly tons of turkeys up there though. I imagine if you hit it just right they'll gobble good and you could have success. That's with anywhere though. Good to see it's going to turn real cold again next week. Maybe it'll keep these birds hush hush a little longer.

Baldeagle, I don't hunt wma's but have some good friends that live right at oakmulgee and not uncommon for them to limit out! Like you said....hard to leave birds you know are there.

Good to see most back for the teams defence of the Title. Anyone heard from those still absent?

Unfortunately I am a public land guy only. I have a hard time paying big numbers for club memberships. If only, if only. I do get on a lot of birds though.
